Varicose veins are troublesome for many people. One of the most popular treatments for them is laser removal.

The varicose veins are heated with a laser beam. The heat from the laser causes damage to the veins. As a result, scar tissue begins to form. This scar tissue closes the vein. Closing the vein cuts off the vein’s source of blood entirely. Consequently, the vein dies.
What do the results look like?
Over time, the treated varicose veins will continue to fade. Eventually, they will either disappear altogether, or become so light that it will be nearly impossible to see them anyway. This process can take several years, however, and will require multiple sessions. The exact amount of sessions required varies from person to person.
What are the risks/side effects?
Some common side effects of laser vein removal include bruising and tenderness. Other rare, but still possible, side effects include:

- skin coloring changes
- pain or prickling sensations
- blood clotting
