Summer is an amazing time! With it come trips to the beach, fun in the sun, tanned, glowing skin — but what we sometimes don’t realize about summer is that it can have negative effects on our skin.
After all the summer fun is done, our skin tends to weaken. It becomes dry, or it might even develop colored patches due to the amount of sun exposure.
But fear not! We have some great tips for how to restore your beautiful skin after summer, and how to maintain it healthy year-round.
How to Quickly Restore Your Skin After Summer
Fortunately, there are a lot of simple ways to nurse your skin back to health after summer is done having its fun with it.
One thing we highly recommend is using soft exfoliators. The purpose of exfoliating is to get rid of all the dead skin cells and allow new, healthy ones to grow in their place, which leads to smoother, brighter skin. How often one should exfoliate depends on each individual, but generally it’s recommended to do it 1-2 times a week to see results and avoid damaging the skin.
Another easy way to restore your skin’s glow is to use hydrating creams and lotions. These creams do exactly as their name suggests: they hydrate your skin and help protect against moisture loss. Make sure to use these hydrating creams once or twice a day to get the best results!
How to Keep Your Skin Healthy Year-Round
It’s important that we take care of ourselves every day, not only after something has already gone wrong. So, here are some tips to avoid the damage summer can bring and to keep your skin healthy and glowing all year long.
1. Maintain a healthy diet. This includes eating fresh fruits and vegetables and finding alternatives to greasy food. One vegetable everyone needs to make sure to include in your diet is spinach. In addition to making you strong like Popeye, spinach contains vitamins A, C, and K which help your skin become more radiant and even heal from scars.
2. Wear sunscreen every day. Being exposed to the sun to any degree is dangerous, especially if the exposure is consistent. Because of this, we need to wear sunblock all the time, not only when we go to the beach or pool. Make sure to use SPF 30+, as anything less is not effective.
3. Drink water. Though it can be a bit difficult sometimes to drink the ideal amount of water, it’s important to put in the effort to do so. Drinking lots of water each day helps the body get rid of toxins and will hydrate the skin, giving it a healthier glow and texture.
It’s important for us to take care of our bodies the way they deserve to be taken care of, so make sure to use these tips to keep yourself happy and healthy!
